SPECIAL WORKFORCE PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS
The Santa Barbara County Workforce Development Board (SBCWDB) offers special projects that target special population in our community to include military veterans, youth with disabilities, and COVID-19 laid off workers. COVID-19 LAYOFF ASSISTANCE PROJECT
This project will assist job seekers laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Services include basic career services and dislocated workers services which include access to vocational training and On-the-Job training services.
COVID-19 NATIONAL DISLOCATED WORKER PROJECT
Provides temporary employment opportunities, career and vocational training opportunities, and supportive services for COVID-19 laid off workers.
VETERANS' EMPLOYMENT-RELATED ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (VEAP)
The Veterans' Employment-Related Assistance Program (VEAP) provides employment and training assistance to unemployed and underemployed veterans and spouses of veterans, who face significant barriers to employment. Participants will receive industry-recognized training, job search and job placement assistance and supportive services.
GROWING GROUNDS ENTERPRISES
Growing Grounds Enterprises is a vocational program for adults living with a mental illness, operated by Transitions-Mental Health Association (TMHA). The program serves clients in both Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties.
COVID-19 SPECIAL SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FUNDS
Supportive services may be provided to individuals impacted by COVID-19. These supportive services may include, but are not limited to, equipment necessary to telework (e.g. computer, internet, etc.), housing assistance, utility assistance, childcare assistance, and transportation assistance.
To receive this service, job seekers must meet established eligibility.
SUMMER TRAINING & EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS (STEPS)
The Summer Training & Employment Program for Students (STEPS) provides job preparation training, including job exploration, workplace readiness skills training, and work-based learning experiences, as well as summer work experience to students with disabilities.
PRISON TO EMPLOYMENT (P2E)
Workforce services provided to the recently incarcerated and justice-involved job seeker. Services include job preparation services, job search assistance, and paid work experience.
SB1: HIGH ROAD CONSTRUCTION
Provides pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship training opportunities.
